Gutter Guards in Fresno, CA

We install gutter guards on Fresno homes. A guard is a cover over the trough that lets water in and keeps leaves and larger debris out. CAL FIRE's home-hardening guidance says to install noncombustible gutter covers, and we fit them on request. Call 123-456-7890 for a free estimate.

A guard does not end cleaning. It reduces how much debris reaches the trough, so the gutter needs clearing less often. Fine grit and seed heads can still get through or settle on some guard designs, so we check the guard after the first season and say what we see.

What a Gutter Guard Does

A guard sits over the top of the trough. Water runs across it and drops through the openings into the trough, and leaves slide off the front. What is left to collect in the trough is fine material small enough to pass through, which builds up much more slowly.

That is the whole benefit: fewer cleanings and less debris sitting through the dry months. A guard does not repair a run that sags, leaks at a joint or holds water. The run comes first and the guard goes on a run that works.

Guard Types We Fit

Guards differ in how they let water in and what they keep out. We tell you which style fits the debris on your roof and which does not.

  • Perforated metal. A sheet of aluminum or steel with holes or slots. It is noncombustible, it is rigid, and it keeps leaves out. Fine grit can collect on top of it.
  • Mesh over a frame. A fine screen in a frame that sits over the trough. The fine screen keeps out smaller debris such as seeds, and the screen can need brushing.
  • Reverse-curve covers. A solid hood that water clings to and flows around into a slot. It sheds leaves well, and it needs a close fit to the fascia and the roof edge.
  • Foam and brush inserts. These sit inside the trough. They keep large debris out, they collect fine debris, and they are combustible or hold moisture, which is why we do not use them where fire guidance applies.

CAL FIRE's guidance asks for noncombustible covers, so for Fresno homes we lead with the metal styles.

We Match the Guard to the Debris on the House

1

We check the roof and the trees before we pick a guard

The debris from a tree over the roofline is not the same as the debris from a low shrub. We look at what falls onto the roof and into the gutter before we pick a guard style, and we say which style fits and which does not. A house under a large leafy tree and a house with a clear roof edge need different guards.

We fit the guard to the existing run in Fresno

We fit the guard to the existing gutter, so the run and the fascia stay where they are. We check the fall toward each outlet before the guard goes on, because a guard cannot fix a run that already holds water. Gutter repair in Fresno covers a run that needs fixing first.

Work is performed by independent professionals.

Gutter Guards and Wildfire Embers

CAL FIRE's home-hardening guidance says: "Check your gutters! Clean gutters regularly and install noncombustible gutter covers on gutters." It states that gutters without a gutter cover can allow debris to accumulate and become highly susceptible to embers and fire, and that if the debris catches fire it exposes unprotected combustible areas of the roof assembly. At a minimum, it says to install a noncombustible gutter cover to reduce the buildup of debris. The same guidance recommends a metal drip edge that completely covers the space above the gutter system.

That is why we use metal guards. A leaf guard in the dry months does two things: it keeps dry debris out of the trough, and it puts a noncombustible cover between embers and what is left. Gutter guards and wildfire embers in Fresno explains the guidance in detail and what a guard does not do.

How it works

How We Install Gutter Guards

First, we clear the trough and check the run for sagging sections, loose hangers and open joints. Second, we fit the guard along the run and fasten it to the gutter, with the back edge set under the roof edge or drip edge as the style requires. Third, we check the joints and the outlets so water still reaches the downspouts. Finally, we run water through the gutter and tell you what the guard will and will not keep out.

What Gutter Guards Cost

Two guides measure gutter guards differently, so we show both and do not average them.

Guide Figure Date read
Fixr, national guide $69 to $600 per job, national average $335 Page updated January 31, 2025
This Old House Average $39.71 per linear foot, or $7,941 for 200 linear feet. Middle half of respondents paid $4,138 to $6,000 Page updated October 6, 2026

The two figures use different methods. Fixr gives a per-job range, and This Old House gives a per-foot average from respondents. Read them as two different ways of measuring the cost, not as one price. The length of the run, the guard style and the number of corners set the price, and that is why a Fresno price comes from measuring the house. Call 123-456-7890 for a free estimate.

What a Guard Quote Should Include

  • The length of gutter being covered, measured on the house
  • The guard type and how it fits the existing trough
  • Whether the guard is noncombustible
  • Whether the run was checked for fall and fasteners before the guard goes on
  • Any repair needed first, quoted on its own
  • The total, and what the quote does not cover, including cleaning after the install

Already Have a Guard Quote?

Compare the length and the guard type first. A quote that does not state the length cannot be compared with another one. Ask what the guard is made of and whether it is noncombustible. Ask whether the run was checked before the guard was priced, because a guard on a run that holds water will not solve the problem. A promise that the gutters will never clog deserves a question, because every guard design collects some fine debris and every guard needs a check. Call 123-456-7890 and we will go through the length, the guard type and the material with you by phone.

Why Homeowners Choose Us

  • We check the run before we fit a guard, and we tell you if it needs repair first.
  • We lead with noncombustible metal guards.
  • We match the guard to the debris that falls on the house.
  • We quote the length and the guard type on the estimate.
  • We say what the guard will and will not keep out.
Frequently asked

Frequently Asked Questions

No. A guard cuts down the debris that reaches the trough, but it does not remove the need for a check. Fine grit and seeds can still collect on some guard designs. We check the guard after the first season and tell you whether the gutter still needs clearing.
